From parent to patient

Saturday night/Sunday morning proved to be very eventful around the Weatherford house.  It all started Saturday afternoon after I picked Hadley up from her Gigi's house.  It was there that I was informed that Hadley threw up her noon feeding.  Not thinking much about it until about an hour later she started gagging and dry heaving.  This went on several times and at times mixed with actually vomiting episodes.  Hadley refused to eat the rest of the afternoon.  Around 5pm Justin and I decided to take her to a LeBonheur Urgent Care for evaluation.  It was there that more vomiting occured along with an abdominal xray.  The xray resulted in some unsettling news and led to a LeBonheur hospital transfer.

Let me stop right here....

Even though I'm in the health care field, when it is your child your nerves/emotions get rattled all the same.  It also gave me a small glimpse as to what these parents of children with terminal conditons face every day.  My heart goes out to them and given what we experienced, on such a very small scale, I now say a special prayer for those families.

This is the part when the title of this blog post fits....
When we arrived to the ER, I started feeling "sick."  While Hadley was being worked up (more x-rays, urine cath, etc), I started vomiting.  Lets just say we were a sight to be seen.  Now Justin was dealing with two sick girls in the LeBonheur ER.  I must say I have never been more happy to get sick, because it basically confirmed that Hadley had the stomach virus.  At about 1:30am on Sunday we were sent home with a baby that needed rest and rehydration.
